SEND Chaplain Vacancy

0.5FTE (fixed term for one year on L1 - £45,081 pro rata); this role could be a temporary secondment opportunity).

This is an exciting and innovative opportunity for a primary school leader of SEND with a strong Christian commitment. Leicester Diocesan Board of Education is sponsoring the role of Learn-AT SEND Chaplain for a trial, one-year period to support children with SEND, their families and the staff who work with them in schools.

The successful candidate will have experience of leading SEND in a primary school setting and a secure understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and local SEND procedures. They will be motivated by their Christian faith to support families of any or no faith who are trying to navigate the SEND system, and staff facing the challenge of working within the system in schools. Working with the Learn-AT SEND Strategic Team and Learn-AT school and church communities, the post holder will coordinate, administer and broker support for:

  • families of pupils with SEND
  • staff working with pupils with SEND

With the goal of contributing to positive school experiences and aspirational educational outcomes for pupils with SEND, the role of SEND Chaplain will focus on:

  • developing strong partnerships with Learn-AT school and church communities to establish and sustain avenues of effective support for families of pupils with SEND to navigate the school SEND system;
  • playing a key role in the pastoral care of the wider Trust community, including children, staff, governors and parents.

The Chaplaincy nature of this role indicates that it is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the post holder is a Christian.
